BASICS IN NUCLEAR TECHNOLOGIES
In this seminar you will be taught the basic nuclear knowledge. This includes a summary of the historical developments as well as the physical-technical basics. For example, the meaning of the nuclide map, explanation of the mass defect and the binding energy. There will also be an introduction to reactor physics and reactor safety technology. In addition, the nuclear fuel cycle is treated from the extraction of uranium to enrichment and disposal of radioactive waste.

The aim of the seminar is to make you understand the basic physical-technical knowledge so that you get a sound overview of the basic topics, such as reactor safety and radiation protection. The lecturers will present the broad topic on the basis of concrete explanations and examples. Those will refer to historical developments to the current state of science and technology. That way you get an overview and an orientation on the subject of nuclear technology. In addition to the principles of radiation protection , the handling of radioactive substances and the ionizing radiation emitted by these substances will be explained. The effects of reactor accidents and the INES scale are also part of the seminar. As a follow up to this basic you will be able to dedicate individual topics in a targeted manner.
