LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Approval and supervisory procedures under the pertinent law are subject to extremely rigorous conditions because many national and international organisations are involved in these procedures. In this module, the presenters will describe the functions and responsibilities of the institutions involved in the area of reactor safety and radiation protection, with particular reference to legal ordinances and the German Atomic Energy Act. The interaction between applicants, approval authorities, the technical expert organisation and the general public will be the main focus of this module. Since the inclusion of the public is particularly important in approval procedures according to nuclear law, the simulation of a public hearing is a major element of this module.
