- Legal provisions and rights of the applicant (AtG, AtVfV, VwVfG)
- Responsibilities in the decommissioning procedure
- Responsibilities of the expert organization
- Strategies for decommissioning planning and execution
- Dealing with limited resources (funding, personnel, service providers)
- Dismantling techniques in decommissioning
- Experience from the dismantling of power and research reactors
- Clearance of buildings and ground areas
- Interim storage and waste treatment
- Radiation measurement technology for plant and waste characterization
LEARNING TARGETS
The module discusses the steps required to remove a nuclear facility from the scope of the Atomic Energy Act. Safety-relevant requirements are placed on both the decommissioning of nuclear facilities and the safe disposal or final storage of radioactive waste. The technologies used during the decommissioning phase of a plant in the areas of decontamination, dismantling and dismantling as well as clearance measurements will be discussed in detail. The lecturers will explain the requirements regarding project planning and execution as well as the legal framework for the decommissioning of nuclear facilities.
