LEARNING TARGETS

The module discusses the steps required to remove a nuclear facility from the scope of the Atomic Energy Act. Safety-relevant requirements are placed on both the decommissioning of nuclear facilities and the safe disposal or final storage of radioactive waste. The technologies used during the decommissioning phase of a plant in the areas of decontamination, dismantling and dismantling as well as clearance measurements will be discussed in detail. The lecturers will explain the requirements regarding project planning and execution as well as the legal framework for the decommissioning of nuclear facilities.
