We mourn the loss of our much appreciated
managing director, shareholder and teamleader
Mr. Dr.-Ing. Andreas Havenith
Completely unexpected and for us all inconceivable, Andreas passed away during his vacation on February, 14th,2023 at the early age of only 40 years.
Dr.-Ing. ANDREAS HAVENITH
† 2023
Mr. Havenith studied mechanical engineering at the FH Aachen with the focus on nuclear energy and radiation physics. In 2006 he wrote his diploma thesis in the field of thermodynamics of nuclear fuel casks at the WTI GmbH in Jülich. After his studies he worked at the Product Control Group (PKS) at the Research Centre Jülich until 2010. He was an authorized expert in nuclear waste management, especially in the proceeding of the final waste disposal Konrad. Since 2010 Mr. Havenith works as a scientist at the Institute for Nuclear Fuel Cycle at the RWTH Aachen University. He develops and validates an innovative, non-destructive measurement-system for the identification and quantification of chemo toxic materials in radioactive waste. The measurement is based on a cyclic neutron-activation and the analysis of prompt and delayed gamma-radiation. He owns the expertise in radiation protection for the handling of sealed and open radioactive materials. Mr. Havenith supports the international cooperation for the development of non-destructive and destructive measurement techniques within the European Network of Testing Facilities for the Quality Checking of Radioactive Waste Packages (ENTRAP). In the scope of his work for the international nuclear safety engineering GmbH he is consultant in the field of waste management and safety analysis for the search of final disposals. In May 2011 he established together with Prof. Thomauske and Dr. Kettler the Aachen Institute for Nuclear Training GmbH, where he is one of two managing directors.
